Ben wrote the musical Lukas in collaboration with Nicole Ratjen and Tom Hanley in 2015. Soon after, he founded Rollercoasters, Berlin's first musical improv group. The group performed countless times in venues around Berlin and abroad, winning the audience prize at the Warsaw Improv Festival in 2019. Rollercoasters disbanded during the pandemic.
Ben has composed, written and recorded for a variety of media, including the German ad for the Netflix series Disenchantment, co-production and recording on tracks from various DACH-based artists such as Gerard and Puppetmastaz, and providing musical consultation on gaming projects such as Inazuma Eleven and various titles in the Pokémon series.
Ben has performed in places across the globe, including London’s O2 Arena and Royal Albert Hall, Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall and Anglican Cathedral, and Venice’s Basilica di San Marco. He has collaborated with Berlin-based choral groups Embassy Singers and Show Choir in a variety of site-specific performances.
As an educator, Ben developed and taught the musical improv curriculum at both Hive Improv School and Comedy Café Berlin Training School. He has held musical improv workshops in Berlin, Frankfurt and Stockholm and accompanied workshops with facilitators from the UK, the US and Germany. He has also worked with students 1-on-1 in private voice and piano lessons.
